Want a quick and easy read? Let’s have a quick stroll through the media pill. You may have noticed this pill on the Content tab, way over on the left.
This pill is super easy to navigate. It is a bucket for all of your LMS images, videos, documents, links, and user contributions. This pill will show every piece of media that you use in building out modules. It also allows you to add media items, just as you would to a module!
You will see each piece of Media listed down the page (the media pill defaults to the list view, so we will continue referring to it as a list view; however, a thumbnail view can be selected in the top right corner). One great feature of the Media pill is the ability to perform bulk edit actions. If you select the checkbox to the left of a media item you can simultaneously delete or approve a selection of media.
Delete: Proceed with caution when deleting media! This removes the media item completely from the LMS — including all modules housing the media item.
Approve/Disapprove: This is how you can approve/disapprove user contributed content.
Mark as Pending: If a Media item is marked as pending it is neither approved nor disapproved. This is the default status when a user submits a User Contribution (if approval is required for this function).
With this list view, you will also see the title, as well as the date added. Using the sidebar, you can filter the list by type, status, and date range.
If you need a few more details for a piece of media, click on the title and you will see the original size of the media, title, and description. You will also be able to see any relevant reports, as well as where this piece of media is being used (so you can solve this classic scenario: “I know I uploaded this photo into a module at some point. Where the heck is it?!”)
That’s it. That’s all you need to know about this pill. Now go brush up on observation checklists. Those are a doozy!
